50th Anniversary!
Mountain Music is celebrating 50 years of continuous service to the Bluegrass Community this year!
Founded in 1970 as "The Banjo Shop", the business has grown and diversified considerably over the last five decades.  During the early years our primary focus was on building custom 5-string banjos and making reproductions of classic pre-war 5-string banjo necks along with a lot of repair work and restorations of older instruments.
Today the bulk of our business is in sales of new Bluegrass Instruments.  We now stock over 70 different models of 5-string banjos! -- including: Huber, Deering, Gibson, Vega, Ome, Morgan Monroe, Recording King, Gold Tone, and Gold Star.  We were honored in 2006 to be tapped as one of 4 "Master Dealers" by the Deering Banjo Company.
Our inventory of fine guitars includes over 90 models from builders like C.F. Martin, Bourgeois, Taylor, Austin, Dobro, Blueridge, Revival, Morgan Monroe, and Takamine.  We are also stocking a nice selection of mandolins, violins, and bass guitars.  The store is still doing a limited amount of custom work and, of course, we continue to service everything we sell!  In addition, we have added a small Bluegrass and Traditional Music CD & DVD Department as well as a digital recording studio for our Bluegrass customers to do their demo CDs in.
For all the "Old-Timers", you might be interested to know that the original "Banjo Shop" is still around!  In fact we have completely renovated the old place and continue to do most of our repair work there.  We are also using that facility for individual Bluegrass Banjo Lessons as well as providing a place for customers who are interested in vintage or "high-end" new instruments to evaluate them in a pleasant, private setting.
You are invited to visit our store and the Adirondack Mountain Region of upstate New York State.  This is a great place to spend an afternoon or evening to just kick back and play a whole building full of fine Banjos, Guitars, Mandolins, Fiddles, and Dobros!  Almost like Bluegrass heaven.
We want to express our gratitude to all the loyal and friendly folks who have helped make Mountain Music successful over the years -- its been an honor and joy to have had the opportunity to sell, maintain, and play all of the hundreds of fine guitars, banjos, and other wonderful string instruments you have all purchased from us over the years.
